Letters to a Young Manager

Pride of Ownership, #590
LTYM >

Please note that this letter is in-process; the following are my notes

Dear Adam,
***
David Norman, a fellow board retiree, he was a Group VP at Winrock International for many years. At one point at a NetHope Summit, he turned to me and he said, I'm so proud of what we've done. He said, you must really be proud too. I said, I'm somewhat incredulous.

What did I mean? People would ask me the question, did you ever expect that it would be this large, with this amount of impact? And I said, Did I expect that we would have an impact? Yes. Did I think we would have this scale? No. So, yes, I was proud of what we accomplished, but I was also surprised.

So, the success of what you start my sometimes surprise you. But start something, and be open to the possibility that it may be something big.
***
Sincerely yours,
Ed
