Letters to a Young Manager

Endurance, #519
LTYM >

Please note that this letter is in-process; the following are my notes

Dear Adam,
***
The Endurance story is a powerful account of leadership and strategy. The 2002 TV mini-series is "the true story of [Ernest] Shackleton's 1914 Endurance expedition to the South Pole and his epic struggle to lead his 28-man crew to safety after his ship was crushed in the pack ice.” [1] (Stars: Kenneth Branagh, John Grillo, Paul Humpoletz). It takes place In the So. Atlantic from Dec. 5, 1914 when the Endurance left the whaling station on So. Georgia Island to May 20, 1916 when the search party returned to So. Georgia to get the rescue boat to retrieve the rest of the crew. In class, we watch from the scene where the Endurance sinks to the search party leaving Elephant Island.

The story illustrates how a strategy changes as the context changes

***
Sincerely yours,
Ed
