Ken Blanchard told us to "catch people doing something right." And then praise them. It's a simple act of rewarding the behavior you want to get.
It’s simple things. For example, I had a programming manager work for me in one organization. And what she used to do is when somebody solved a programming problem, she would leave a little handful of M&Ms on their desk next to the computer. And so when they came in, in the morning, they knew they did something right because there was a little pile of M&Ms, and it was great.
Thirty years later I remember it, it was so effective. But yeah, so think more about servant leadership, that if in fact you are serving people best, then you are enabling them to become more like a senior manager, something that you are enabling, for them to make better decisions.
