Letters to a Young Manager

There are no perfect specs, #431
LTYM >

Please note that this letter is in-process; the following are my notes

Dear Adam,
***
Requirements conundrum:
  1. imperfect business users; imperfect specs,
  2. humility discovery, PDCA cycles of Agile, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDCA
  3. new tech challenging new thinking, rethinking business (disruption)

As ICT4D has come to the fore, I too note the lack of clarity on problems. With Rilke, I look more to "love the questions". (I've written a few times on this theme, here for example: http://eghapp.blogspot.pt/2009/12/resolutions.html?m=1; note my comment about T. Peters' comment on the problem of the rearview mirror).  This and the problem of business users being a poor source of specs, are worth debating more.
***
Sincerely yours,
Ed
