Humor is the best antidote for stress

Richard, pp 226-227:
Edward Happ
What some of my colleagues have done, I'm thinking of one in particular, Sam was his name, he's retired, but he worked for the New York City Public Library and then he worked for the Anti Defamation League in New York. He was the chief Information officer and then he was the chief operating officer. He would have game day and they would do a competition where they'd have these crazy games. One that he had was cabbage bowling. And so the bowling ball was a cabbage, and you'd roll a cabbage and then they had water bottles set up as the pins.

Richard C
Wow.

Edward Happ
They had that set up in the office, so cabbage bowling was an event. Another event they did something with chairs. Oh, I think they had office chair hockey.

So you had to be on a chair with wheels and you'd have, I don't know whether you used a hockey stick or something else, maybe you used an umbrella and there was a smaller ball and you had to hit the ball. So it was a silly game, but fun for all.[1]

Richard C
I can imagine how silly, but people.

Edward Happ
But people would do what you're doing now. They laughed and had fun together.

It's sort of a bonding exercise. And in terms of picking people's spirits up, one way that happens is that if you have an update, everybody else feels that and is up, but you don't want to be artificial about that. You're going through a tough time. So the question is, well, what are other things that can increase the atmosphere that this is a fun place to work, this is a place where people care, people do things together.
***
Yours,
Ed
