Letters to a Young Manager

Testing Commitment, #532
LTYM >

Please note that this letter is in-process; the following are my notes

Dear Sophie,
***
A popular Poli-sci class was over subscribed. Every seat was taken, student were standing in the back and on the sides. Others were gathered in the doorway.

The professor walked in without a word, went to the front of the class and began writing names of many books and articles on the board. When he was done, he turned to the class and said, Don’t even try to talk to me until you have read all of these, there will be no questions in this class. He then strode out of the classroom. The next session, there were half the students; everyone had a seat. The professor sat on the desk with an unlit cigar in his fingers and said, now that we’ve cleaned out the dead wood we can begin our study.

Same approach to handling an objection or a compliant; look into it and write me a memo/report about it.

***
Sincerely yours,
Ed
