Letters to a Young Manager

I Don't Have Control, #83
LTYM >

Please note that this letter is in-process; the following are my notes

Dear Sophie,
***
I had an employee once who said to me, well, I can't be responsible for my performance this quarter in this ever-changing environment. And I said, well, what percentage of your performance? What percentage do you think over the last three months was due to you or due to just the environment around you? She said, Oh, it's all the environment. I told her, I think you may need to think a little bit more about this.
***
Sincerely,
Ed
